Answer “No to All” When Copying Files in Windows XP

If you’ve ever copied one directory of files over another, you’re probably pretty aware that Windows gives you an option to respond Yes To All when file conflicts arise. But what if you don’t want to overwrite the files? Windows Vista and Windows 7 were gracious enough to allow you to repeat your selected action on future conflicts but Windows XP wasn’t. Or was it?

Windows XP has an undocumented feature that allows you to respond No to All on dialogs like those in the picture above. The solution is simple: hold down the Shift key while clicking the No button and Windows XP will nicely repeat that response each time it’s necessary.
