Tried all of the suggestions and it still says everything is invalid. I’ve tried the 7444 while its playing at the menu on the bottom of the screen, anything. I’m desperate. I can’t even play a barbie movie for my little girls. Please help!

I believe I had to press the select button twice to get the menu to the bottom of the screen. After I opened the menu there, I was able to change the parental controls.

What pisses me off is the people here that say “Oh nevermind, I figured it out” bullshit, when several people before them and after them cannot get the option to ungray.

I hit select when asked for a password, then used 7444 to delete the password. Entered a new password, and entered it again to confirm. PS2 said it was complete and started playing the movie. As soon as I got to the main menu of the DVD I started playing the actual movie. Hit select to bring up settings and the parental controls are still greyed out. Turned off my PS2 for about 5 mins and turned it back on. It asked to change levels and I said yes. It asked for my password, and I put in the one I just changed it to 5 minutes ago and it is saying invalid. Any ideas?

I found that I had to change to password ~first~ before I could get the DVD playing to be able to get to the menu. Hope this helps others, but thanks for the instructions.

I have the same prob as keith. I have tried to do this at the beginning of a restricted disc, cannot go right from the parental control to the region. Tried this on a G rated disc before and during playback, even while the disc was paused. Same thing, cannot highlight region.

Don’t stop playback! You have to bring the menu up WHILE it is playing!

I have tried everything that you suggested and it still doesn’t work. I have stopped playback and brought up the settings menu and the parental controls are greyed out. I am ready to launch this thing through the window. I have to enter a code everytime my kids want to watch a movie or play a game. Please help me.

would not let me enter 7444 to change anything but i kept trying things and it let me delete 7444 and then enter my new password. persistence is key.hope this may help someone else.

Tried the code 7444 and it didn’t work. Neither did 0000 or 1111. Bought ps2 used and am at a loss how to make it work. Any help would b greatly appreciated

my mom and i have been at this stupid PS2 for awhile and still we cant figure it out. She says that the parental control was nvr set but we still have no idea. hello nilpo…my ps2 will not play any games rated above T..or any dvd rated above G..i have the parental controls set to off and even tried setting it to 8, but still no luck..it plays T and under just fine, but when the rating is higher all it does is spin the disk. please help

I tried the instructions you gave and it didn’t work. We weren’t able to even change the settings because we can’t get the password correct. We made sure it was on dvd playback. We even tried a universal code I found on several sites. (7444) and that did not work either.
